Julia

After years of juggling 4 children whilst living abroad, a teaching career, and squeezing in yoga classes when she could, Julia took the plunge and enrolled in a 300-hour yoga teacher training course in 2014 followed by a 500-hour yoga therapy course with Union Yoga Ayurveda, Singapore. 2 years of intense study and working as an ayurvedic therapist cemented her love of all things yoga and wellbeing and a career change was made!

On returning to Ipswich in 2016, Julia started teaching from her front room. Loving the new direction of life, she took over Suffolk Yoga in 2017. Going from strength to strength, the new studio was bought in 2018 and after a few hard months of renovations was opened on Feb 1st, 2019. Then covid hit. Shaken but not stirred Suffolk Yoga went online and kept their merry band of yogis together virtually. Now the studio is blossoming back to life with the dream of Sorrel Horse House filled with yoga and therapists of all sorts coming true.

Julia’s style of teaching continues to evolve. She is influenced by classical Patanjali hatha yoga but loves combining flowing movements with breathwork, strength building, mobility and longer yin holds. She is constantly learning and developing her own practice with interests in fascial work, meridians, trauma release and most recently reiki first and second degree.

She has studied with Dr Satyam Tripathi, Victor Chung (Yin Yoga in Asia), Sarah Powers, Leslie Kaminoff, Norman Blair and undertaken numerous short trainings in person and online. She firmly believes you can’t have too many yoga books, yoga certificates or notebooks filled with lesson plans, poems and inspiring quotes. Fundamental to her teaching is the belief that yoga is for everyone and everybody is welcome at her classes.
